Composting Workshops and Classes
Master Composter Series- Please Submit Your Application by April 21st
Would you like to become a Compost Ambassador to your community? The Master Composter Series is open to people interested in educating the community about the techniques and benefits of local and residential composting. The Master Composter Series’ mission is to develop Compost Ambassadors who are committed to helping schools, homeowner associations, and community gardens incorporate composting techniques into their daily practices.
The Master Composter Series is a 5-class commitment that requires active community involvement. Candidates do not need any prior composting knowledge to apply. This series is limited to 25 participants, with priority given to Oceanside residents and businesses. Classes are scheduled for 5:30pm to 7:00pm on May 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 at the El Corazon Compost Facility.

Compost Bin Design Workshop: April 26th at 1:00pm
Have you considered buying a compost bin for your home, but find they are too expensive and/or don’t reflect your personal style? The Compost Bin Design Workshop will guide you through the process of creating a compost bin by using repurposed items from your home. Participants must pre-register for this workshop. Registration opens Friday, April 4th.
ASLA Only Event- Bioswale and Beer: May 7th at 5:00pm
ASLA members are invited to the El Corazon Compost Facility for beer tasting and a hands-on demonstration on Bioswale media.
Agri Service personnel will demonstrate the components of Bioswale, measuring infiltration rates and installation techniques.
Village Nurseries will be on hand with examples of plant materials for each zone in the Bioswale profile. We will discuss the proper application and benefits of using Bioswale on SWPPP and bioremediation projects.
